Code of conduct

UX Camp is an immersive experience designed to bring together Alberta’s user experience community. 

We are committed to fostering a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all participants. Our community thrives on respect, collaboration, and professionalism. This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations to ensure a positive experience for everyone.

Expected Behavior

  • Treat all participants, speakers, and staff with respect and kindness.
  • Engage in collaborative and constructive discussions.
  • Avoid any demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing language or behaviour.
  • Support an inclusive environment free from bias based on gender, identity, sexual orientation, disability, race, ethnicity, age, or religion.

Unacceptable Behavior

The following behaviours are strictly prohibited:

  • Intimidation or bullying.
  • Harassment, including but not limited to offensive verbal comments, inappropriate physical contact, unwelcome sexual attention, or discriminatory remarks.
  • Disruption of presentations, workshops, or events.
  • Sharing inappropriate or offensive content in public or private communications, including online platforms.
  • Reporting Unacceptable Behaviour

If you experience or witness unacceptable behaviour:

 Report the incident to our staff members or organizer immediately.

All reports will be handled confidentially, and appropriate actions will be taken to ensure the safety and comfort of all participants.

Retaliation against individuals reporting incidents is strictly prohibited and will result in removal from the event.

Consequences of Violations

  • Minor, unintentional violations may be addressed through education and dialogue.
  • Severe or intentional misconduct, including predatory behaviour, will result in immediate expulsion from the event without a refund and possible exclusion from future UX Camp activities.
  • Actions may be taken independently of any civil or criminal proceedings.

Online and Digital Conduct

This Code of Conduct applies equally to online interactions in spaces like Slack, Zoom, or email. All participants are expected to maintain professionalism and respect in digital communications. Violations will be addressed with the same level of seriousness as in-person interactions.

UX Camp is committed to upholding a high standard of integrity and respect in all interactions. We encourage constructive feedback and dialogue, handled with discretion and care, to foster a community built on mutual learning and support.
